DIY Fairy Wings
Sew a beginner-friendly playtime or Halloween costume
Hello, hello! Today, I’m so excited to share another free project with you. These DIY Fairy Wings are a great beginner-friendly sewing project that will also double as a Halloween costume for the upcoming fall season! Aren’t they cute?
These Fairy Wings are a fun fabric accessory to help young kids who love imaginative play and make-believe! Learn how to use interfacing for added structure and durability to your sewing projects. You can easily tailor the wings to fit any child. And the best part? They’re reversible!
My friend and neighbor allowed me to borrow her adorable kiddos for this photoshoot, and I gave them the wings to keep. I hope they inspire lots and lots of imaginative play.
After sewing the wings separately, I used some decorative stitches stitches to sew the wings together side-by-side with my Baby Lock Ballad quilting and sewing machine. How cute are those “X”es?!
Features I love include the automatic needle threader and the 11.25″ throat space for ample sewing room. There are 771 built-in stitches and Baby Lock’s trusty digital dual-feed system, which make feeding quilts through the machine so easy!
I’m sharing the free pattern over at Sew It Yourself! Go over and learn how to make it. I hope you find this project fun and empowering… you can do it.
I highly recommend their Klasse needle kits, so you never run out of fresh needles during your project! Here’s the one I love for my Baby Lock Celebration serger, but you can also find great sewing machine needle kids here!
