kraft-tex Woven Basket
If you haven’t tried kraft-tex, it’s a faux leather that cuts as easily as paper but sews up like fabric! There are many creative applications you can add to the kraft-tex: stamping, printing, dyeing, embroidery, painting, and more.
I started with the woven basket pattern from the book Create with Cork Fabric by Jessica Sallie Kapitanski (Stash Books). I adapted the pattern, making my basket about an inch shorter and using one less weaving strip.
I used Saffron kraft-tex
for the basket and Linen kraft-tex for the weaving strips. I think the kraft-tex is a nice substitue for cork fabric in this project, and I’m going to try some other home decor projects from the book as well!
It has some very cute jewelry I’m dying to make.
I
picked up the lining fabric from someone in my quilt guild, since we had
a scrap swap. I love this fabric (not sure who makes it), and
especially for this project because of the colors and the cool “woven”
design!
It turned out so cute and I can’t wait set it out with some napkins for our next cookout! It’s also the perfect size for stashing sewing patterns. 🙂
