Sew Wine Bottle Gift Bags for the Holidays

What do you get for the person who has everything? Wine! How do you make it a little more thoughtful? Check out my new free sewing tutorial for this Wine Bottle Bag at SIY Sew It Yourself!

Below you can see the “Christmas” side of the two wine bottle bags I sewed…. I used the Vibrant Botanica collection by Kitty McCall for FreeSpirit Fabrics for this project.

And here’s the “anytime”/party side! I love the bold floral designs and especially the pop of yellow—I knew right away I wanted to use both of these prints.

When I was looking around at the various existing designs for wine bottle bags, I didn’t see any that fit just what I was looking for. I like this bottle bag because it is completely reversible and it is also padded to protect your bottles during transport. Lovely! I also used upcycled leather straps from a thrifted purse for the handles. I’m so glad I remembered about that purse, because I think the size and color of the straps was just perfect to give these wine bottle bags an elegant touch!

As always, my Baby Lock sewing machine made this project a breeze! I stitched up wine bottle bags on my Baby Lock Ballad, and it handled everything beautifully from start to finish. If you’re thinking about upgrading your machine, I can’t say enough good things about Baby Lock. They even offer beginner-friendly models at great prices!
