Bright and Happy Floor Pillows for Ann Kelle
When Kelle asked if I would sew some assorted floor pillows for a photo shoot, I had all kinds of ideas. We talked over some shapes, fabric combos and sizes, and I let the fabric do the work.
My friend Veronica helped me with all of the sewing and planning (and distracting Elliot while we sewed), so I definitely could not have done it without her help!
Pie Pillow
I drafted a pattern for this pillow, which we called the “pie pillow.” I started from this basic idea, which has 12 sections, and changed it to 8 sections. This pillow is really huge, and I was worried about fitting it in Kelle’s car!
Patchwork Muffin
For this pillow, I used a tutorial from Living with Punks, and adjusted the side panel to this funky patchwork version. Love the pink covered button!
Patchwork Cushion
This pillow pattern is self drafted, using some dense foam for the pillow form. The patchwork pieces are almost charm-square sized, but a little longer. I LOVE how this one turned out, especially with the crisp, white piping Veronica sewed on.
Heart Pillow
The heart pillow was Kelle’s idea, and Veronica drafted the pattern and stitched on the piping again. I cut the fabric pieces, so it was a collaboration. Love how this one turned out. The back is an envelope closure.
Happy Hourglass Cushion
Finally, this half-square triangle pillow was another collaborative effort! Veronica and her daughter helped me cut and arrange the triangles, and we had a little assembly line to sew and press. We really improvised on this one, and I think it turned out so cute!
